If things are released as they are planned, we might be getting a new Vanessa film every other month for the next few months! That's so exciting! I hope things do go as planned.

'Cafe' notches up Venice pre-salesPic goes to Australia, Benelux, Switzerland, Turkey By JOHN HOPEWELL 'Cafe de Flore' Films Distribution has pre-sold Jean-Marc Vallee's "Cafe de Flore" to Icon for Australia, Cineart for Benelux, Switzerland's Agora Films and Turkey's Bir Film. World preeming in Venice Days today, Vallee's third film is distributed in Canada by Alliance, through a deal struck by its Canadian producer, the start-up Item 7. UGC/TF1 will release in France. Written by Vallee and toplining Vanessa Paradis and Kevin Parent in what Vallee dubs an "epic love film between a man and a woman, and between a mother and her son," "Flore" unspools in two eras -- contempo Montreal, 1960s Paris. Vallee's debut feature "C.R.A.Z.Y" saw robust sales for Films Distribution. Valle is "very talented at telling complicated stories and getting in depth into the mind of his characters without making 'Cafe' a kind of European psychological drama," said Films Distribution partner Nicolas Brigaud Robert. Paris-based Films Distribution is also handling Lido world preems "Louise Wimmer" and "Guilty." Critics' Week player "Louise Wimmer," from France's Cyril Mannegun, is the story of a 50-year-old woman who lives out of her car after separating from her husband. Screening in Venice Days, Vincent Garenq's "Guilty" tells the true story of a couple arrested for crimes of pedophilia they didn't commit."Flore" director Vallee works in both French and English. Produced by Christophe Rossignon's Nord-Ouest Prods., "Guilty," said Brigaud Robert, is a broad-audience movie in France, with more mainstream distrib prospects abroad. That's the kind of diversity Films Distribution seeks, as buyers are looking for a wide range of movies, he added. Well, that's not so good But I love this part "There's considerable potential in dramatizing Jacqueline's quest to raise Laurent in the most loving and stimulating way -- Paradis is rock-solid, and many of her scenes with little Gerrier are touchingly effective. But Vallée might have more profitably concentrated on properly developing that one story, and ditching Café de Flore's less-engaging elements altogether -- i.e., the modern-day stuff."

Well... glad we'll all be wishing it was all Vanessa Sounds to me like the film might just be a bit confusing and unclear because of the editing... to me that just sounds like something that required multiple viewings to understand. Just one review... we'll have to wait and see for more! And I don't care for reviews either way. I don't like this part especially: But prospects in non-Francophone territories are slim... hopefully this review is a one-off...

That Variety review makes me wonder about how Carol is connected to Vanessa's character. Sounds like a twist...
