I looked for threads like this and couldn't find but if there are please feel free to move it I was a fan of Johnny's for a while til I took an interest in Vanessa. Back in the summer of 2004, I became very curious about Vanessa and who Vanessa was. I looked her up on amazon because I heard she was a singer and wanted to know what she sounded like. 'Natural High' was the first song I heard of her's. And I loved it even it was 30 seconds because I was listening to it on amazon lol. Anyways I started following Vanessa in Translation, the site not the forum, and the french fansite Vanessa a - z (i forgot the name of it). This was the time when Atomik Circus was coming out and being promoted, so there was ALOT of news pretty much everyday. So I pretty much kept up to date about her projects. And Christmas 2004, I got my first Vanessa cds (Bliss, Au Zenith, and M +J). So thats how I became a fan. I would like to hear from others too

That's a nice idea for a thread! Well I know Vanessa for quite a long time...since 2000 or 2001. The TV in the livingroom was on, and VH1 was displayed. And Commando was on VH1! And I absolutely loved Vanessa's voice. I was just 5 or so, but I still loved Vanessa! So I started listening to more and more songs...from Bliss. I kept listening to her songs. In 2005 I went to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with my brother, and I became a fan of Johnny. I saw him for the first time in POTC1 back in 2003, but I knew it's Johnny Depp just when I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Took me a while to realize that there's a conncetion between Johnny and Vanessa but I found it really funny. Anyway, I've been to a concert of Vanessa for the 1st time back in 2008, in Switzerland. With my father, which loves Joe Le Taxi... A bit more than a year ago I've been to another concert in France. I can't explain in words what an amazing experience it was. Lots of fun! So yeah...I'm nearly 17...and I know Vanessa since I'm 5 or so. That's a lot...

I became a fan of Johnny in 2006 I think, and I heard about Vanessa but I really never had the initiative to come and look who she was. So in 2007 I saw a picture of Van's (from 1991, L'émission) in my friends' profile in Orkut and I thought "wow, what a beauty!" so I went to youtube and heard Joe le Taxi and I loved! I instantly downloaded all her albuns and in 2008 my uncle gave me two cds "Vanessa Paradis" and "Divinidylle". I was so happy with my first Vanessa's things, it was so precious to me! I found her movies too and I bought and then I found 2 cds (M&J, Live) and one LP (Variations) here in my country. I was very lucky too 'cause I made amazing friends whose gave me a lot of magazines and the "Une Nuit à Versailles" cd. Last year for christimas my valentine gave me "Anthologie" and was the best present ever! I never liked an artist like that and I love Vanessa so much, I'm so glad I knew her because I fell in love with many other french people and she introduced me to the french music and cinema, which I love. Now I'm planning on going to Vanessa's next tour, and hopefully I'll be able to.

It was around the time Sweeney Todd came out and I was bored and searching YouTube for Tim Burton stuff which led to searching around for Johnny Depp videos. Eventually I stumbled across the L'incendie clip and I loved it! So I started searching around for more Vanessa stuff. When I found out that Vanessa was just as huge a Marilyn Monroe fan as I am and that she had a song about her, I was hooked! I started buying all her albums and I loved them!

Me too, it was around Sweeney Todd periode. My best friend was a Johnny's fan and always spoke about it! She said me that her father like listening to the radio 'Des que j'te vois'... And I don't remember the transition between this moment and the first listening to Vanessa's songs. I remember that I told to my parents who was Vanessa Paradis and her song 'Joe le taxi'. My mother told me she had heard a lot about and my father bought me the MJ album from Bruxelles to listening some Vanessa's songs,...and later the Vanessa Paradis album.... and now I have listening to all her albums and others songs, I've seen all her movies! I'm a big fan now! I've been to a concert the first time in June 2010 in Lille. The BEST concert ever! There was a fire atmosphere. The public was unleashed and tapped feet, I thought the theater was going to collapse! And one week later in Paris. I went twice to concerts in Paris last year too.

Around the time when Bliss came out. I've followed Johnny's career for many years so one day, out of curiosity, I looked Vanessa up on the internet and heard Firmaman and loved it. Shortly afterwards I was in Switzerland on a business trip where I found the Bliss album in a store, bought it and was instantly completely hooked!. I've seen Vanessa in concert twice - the Divine Idylle Tour in Geneva and then the acoustic concert at the Montreux festival...both very different concerts which show off Vanessa's versatility and charisma. You would not think to see such a tiny basically shy person that she could shine so much when she sings live, but she certainly commands the stage in a completely natural way, without artifice or excess. It always amazes me that she manages to keep things simple. No doubt if she wanted she could have elaborate sets and effects, but no, thank goodness - it's just Vanessa, her voice, the talented musicians with whom she works - and the overall effect is ten times more powerful than any special effects. She is truly talented, I feel privileged to have seen her in concert twice and I hope to see her in a live performance again - my dream is to see her in Paris. I listen to her albums all the time, there is always the right song for every mood.

First i became a fun of Johnny Depp. I saw him in "Ninth Gate" directed by Roman Polañski, who i adored, and "The Astronaut's Wife". But I never become his great fun before "Pirates of Caribbean: The Curse Of Black Pearl". I rented DVD and become huge Johnny Depp fun, started buying all his movies, biographies and newspapers, watching videos on youtube. Than i realized that Johnny has a beautiful girl Vanessa Paradis, started interested in her work. Now, i'm a big fun of them both!!! My first Vanessa cd was "Divinidylle" and till today i think it's her best cd ever!

I've been a fan of Vanessa's since around 2004/2005 (?) I had heard of her and was aware of her relationship with Johnny. I knew the song Be My Baby. I had it on cassette from way back and I happened to listen to it again, and it ignited this interest in her for me. I bought Bliss as it was her most recent album at the time and I'd heard good things about it. After that, the rest in History. I have since traveled to Paris twice to see her live on both Divinidylle and Acoustic tours, and I was front row when I saw her perform in London in 2011 I was previously a fan of Johnny's movies, and while I do still follow Johnny's career as much as I can, I do feel like Vanessa has kind of surpassed him! Lol.

My story is pretty much exactly like yours, Heartbreaker. I was curious about her because of Johnny and came away a fan. It was 2004 for me as well. I now have all of her movies and all of her music.
I got goosebumps the first time I watched Girl on a Bridge. Her charisma just exploded off the screen.

I was playing around on Youtube years ago, and stumbled onto this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA7wLNJ9XbEI became rather obsessed with "Pourtant" and sought out more of Vanessa's (and -M-'s) music.

I became a fan/or admirer of Vanessa's after seeing a few of her films. I think she was best woman for Johnny. His life was topsy tirvy with relationships from Winnoa Ryder and Kate Moss. His career kind of a stand still at that time doing a movie here and there so she was with him some years before Pirates...etc! I wish her well in her career and looking forward in seeing more of her upcoming films if they come to Southern California.

Lol. Same here! I've probably been a fan of Vanessa's since 2003-2004 and it was Johnny who opened the doors to this wonderful discovery. I remember when I first started listening to her music, I became completely obsessed with the Bliss album and the Au Zenith DVD. La fille sur le pont simply confirmed that I'd be a life long fan. Attending the acoustic show in New York last February was a dream come true. I hope to attend many more! Nowadays, I'd say I follow Vanessa's career more so than I do Johnny's. Admittedly, the last Johnny movie I saw in theatres was Alice in Wonderland. I still admire Johnny's body of work, I've become a bit disenchanted with his more recent career choices though.
