If I manage to find a copy I will put the interview up as soon as I can.
Johnny Depp's partner Vanessa Paradis: "I have a problem with the term soulmates"
The French actress, who's been with Johnny Depp for 14 years, reveals that she doesn't believe in soulmates
Vanessa Paradis, the beautiful French actress, model and singer, has told Stylist magazine that she doesn't like the word 'soulmates'.
She and Johnny Depp have been together for 14 years and have two children together (Lily Rose, 12, and Jack, 10) yet are constantly faced with unfounded rumours about cracks in their relationship. Yet, despite this, Vanessa has been wonderfully open and honest about love in a new interview.
Speaking to Stylist magazine about her new film, Cafe de Flore, she was asked whether, seeing as she's been with one person for such a long time, she believes in soulmates. She answered, "I have a problem with the term soulmates. It scares me a lot. It's such a strong statement - it's like a marriage contract.
"I believe in love and I want to believe that it lasts forever. But I'm like everyone else, you have to take things a day at a time and you can never know what comes next. All you can do is hope and love and live. When you say 'This is my soulmate' it's almost like saying, 'Well, OK, we're done here then.' [laughs] That's why I don't really like to use that term, but I understand it."
She goes on to speak quite openly about love in general: "[Love] is everything that drives us universally. What love makes us do, what love makes us feel, what we do for love - completely. Love hurts and burns."
Johnny has recently spoken out about how worried he is that his and Vanessa's kids will read something untrue about their relationship online.
He said, "For a long time I tried to manage an honesty and openness about my personal life because I'm human and I'm normal - well, semi normal.
"But now my kids have access to the internet and are able to read truth, lies, total fiction, rumours and this whole thing has become a mulch of fodder.
"So I've decided to stay hush-hush and, if the rumours spin, then let them spin."
Johnny and Vanessa sound massively down to earth, both pretty much saying "what will be, will be" in different ways. We really want them to be our friends.
Vanessa, Johnny - dinner later? No? Oh.
