The film Café de Flore has been selected the next AFI Film Festival Los Angeles, which runs from November 3 to 10. A great opportunity to feel the pulse of the U.S. market.
The latest feature film by Jean-Marc Vallée (CRAZY, The Young Victoria) was selected in the World Cinema section. Selecting this section "the most respected filmmakers in the world" was to be unveiled yesterday.
"It's very good news, yesterday welcomed the producer Pierre Even.
"Jean-Marc is very pleased to return to the festival where he presented CRAZY six years ago and he had even won a prize. Café de Flore will be also presented in the same section as CRAZY at the time. "

For the producer, the first screenings of the film in Quebec in the United States can serve as a springboard for the U.S. market. The film will also be presented to the very popular American Film Market (AFM) which is held in conjunction with the AFI Film Festival.
Café de Flore has been sold in fifteen countries (including Belgium, Italy, Spain, Austria and New Zealand), but not yet in the United States.
"The U.S. is one of the largest territories, but at the same time, it is certainly the most difficult to sell, said Pierre Even.
"The problem in the United States is that there are only a handful of distributors who are interested in international cinema. "
The AFI Film Festival is one of the manifestations of the genre's most important to the United States.
This year the festival will present the new California titles by Roman Polanski (Carnage) and Clint Eastwood (J. Edgar) and films with well traveled on the festival circuit (Melancholia, The Artist, Shame, Pina. etc. ...).
