Awesome, thanks Meixang! I love what she's wearing. And I can even follow the interview to some extent, with my very-limited French

A little translation ? (wink)
(lily)
25 years of career, what does it mean for you ? It's breathtaking, amazing, I think that's incredible, and at the same time, that's the truth. I spend so extraordinary things with so talented people. I'm impressed, but it doesn't make me feel gloomy. The secret ? I don't know, you have to follow your desires. I've never had another "career plan"...
With its diversity, Love Songs is a traditional pop music album... Yes it is, in the good way of the variety sense, it's various. It wasn't planned. I had a lot of marvelous songs from authors-composers. This double-album, I had to make it, even if I prefer short albums. I had to make so choices. But these 20 songs, I don't see how I wouldn't have made without them. I enjoy being surprised. We worked in an incredible studio, the ICP Studio in Brussels, a huge loft. No friends, no family, just music.
You seem to be very moved by "La chanson des vieux cons". It's a "brélienne" (from Jacques Brel) ballad inspired by J Brel's style... I agree. A "classique" written by Benjamin Biolay ; Piaf or Gréco could have sung it. We totally are "caught" by the melody. It has been a very moved song.
Did it make you cry ? It's none of your business ! But yes it did... It can be the same when you're acting a scene for a movie. In music, it's immediate.
When did you stop to be "little stupid girl" , as you sing ? Time goes by, and we become an adult. There is no toll. "Stupid" is a word that refers to the years where you learn, it happens before being in one's thirties.
The song "Tu vois c'que je vois ", is an hymn to wonder. Does it correspond to you ? Oh yes, I love life, people, nature. I'm amazed by so many things. It allowed me to keep me away from boredom, cynicism. And it helps to last in this business.
"Le Rempart", beautiful and romantic ballad about split, it reminds your split last year with Johnny Depp... It's weird, but the question never is asked to the authors. What was their mood when they wrote it ? I've always refused, during all my career, to talk about my private life. All these songs were sent to me before my split. Le Rempart is an incredible present from Mathieu Boogaerts.
But can we talk about "New Year", a family song ? This song was written 8 years ago. The "guitar chords" were found by Johnny, and our daughter Lily-Rose, has found this lovely melody during a "creative moment" that blew me away. She is precocious. She is now at the same age I was when I started singing. But I wouldn't urge her to do a career, as no one did with me when I started.
Your sister, Alysson, is an actress too. You grew up in an artistic atmosphere... My father was a craftsman. He worked with his hands. It's not as composing a music or singing. But in both cases, you must embark on something without knowing about what it will lead up to. It's the same route, from brain to hands, and from brain to the voice. And after all, I grew up with the musicals from Hollywood. That's the reason why I've always refused to choose between actress and singer. A role in a musical, this is my dream.
In the meantime, you'll be in the next John Turturro's movie, starring Sharon Stone and Woody Allen... yes, the film is called Fading Gigolo. The shooting was "epic" in New-York during the hurricane. I play the role of an Hassidic widow who is the mother of six children. And Woody is a shopkeeper redeployed in "mac" ( ?? ). He was improvising all the time, which I'm not able to do. He is like in his movies : very, very, very funny.
