As always I enjoy hearing Vanessa sing,she does it great,she sound so sweet and talented..Waow.But Johnny barely appears..so I don't consider it a real duet.He only says 2Melody Nelson" 4 times or so,it is Vanessa who does the whole thing. Anyway Johnny's voice is amazing,he sounds deep and Vanessa so sweet..So sad they didn't sing at the same time kind of Nicole Kidman and Robbie Williams with "Something stupid" or Nat King Cole with daughter Natalie Cole and her "Unforgettable". I hope some day they perfom together a song,I would be glad  Both are pure art!!! |

Oh I LOVE it, thank you Meixang!! I'm a huge fan of the original anyway but this version is sooo good! Johnny's voice is sort of dark & menacing versus Vanessa's sweet & innocent voice, which kind of reflects the Lolita theme of the song too. For any one who has never seen a translation of this song I recommend this guy's website www.myownrole.com/laballadedemelodynelson.html you can find really good English translations of nearly all of Gainsbourg's lyrics on there, its a really gem because its a huge project |
